Field Applications Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Based in Carlsbad, California, United States; includes remote and onsite support, onsite customer support across CONUS and OCONUS, and 75% travel.

Salary: $88,000–$139,000 annually; $109,500–$164,500 annually for specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area, and the New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Support installation, deployment, testing, documentation, training, operations, and maintenance for UHF DAMA and IW networks.
• Provide customer, production, and engineering support for government hubs, remote terminals, and COTS equipment.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers and provide onsite customer support across CONUS and OCONUS.
• Install and update hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, IP networking, configuration management, information assurance, SATCOM networks, and terminals.
• Update technical publications and support an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with SATCOM TDMA theory, RF, antennas, and test methods.
• Experience operating spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Experience developing technical user documentation and delivering technical training.
• Experience resolving issues with SATCOM networks, terminals, and IP networking.
• Associate degree in a technical subject area or equivalent experience.
• US citizenship is required for this US government position.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one when administratively feasible; an interim clearance must be granted before the start date.
• Ability to work an on-call rotation and travel 75% across CONUS and OCONUS.
• Ability to be based out of Carlsbad, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with UHF DAMA and IW SATCOM systems and network operations.
• Experience with SATCOM network operations.
• Understanding of military standards and cryptographic baseband equipment, such as KY-100M, KY-99, and KIV-7M.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting SATCOM hubs, terminals, system issues, and IP network equipment.
• Experience with customer service and ticketing systems such as Salesforce.
• Prior military background.
