Executive Consultant Risk Control, Construction, Energy and Marine

Location: Durham, North Carolina, United States; requires a consistent field presence with approximately 20%–50% of time onsite with customers, including possible long-distance and overnight travel.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Provide underwriters with account knowledge on hazards, controls, management practices, and inherent risk factors, supporting selection, retention, and growth of profitable business.
• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to deliver coordinated customer service.
• Conduct complex all-lines risk assessments for manufacturing, large warehouse operations, challenging property and products liability exposures, large multi-location companies, and significant fleet exposures.
• Write technically detailed reports, communicate risk assessments, recommend corrective actions, and help customers mitigate potential losses.
• Evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and readiness assessments, provide risk control products and services, and stay current on technical subjects, regulations, and emerging issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in specialty areas such as Fleet, Sprinkler Contractor, Inland Marine, Industrial Hygiene, and Human Factors & Ergonomics, while maintaining senior responsibilities and undertaking higher-level projects.

Requirements

• At least seven years of experience in safety, risk control or management, occupational or environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military work.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must have or be able to attain appropriate certification to meet applicable state-specific requirements.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or a related technical field.
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and strong business acumen.
• Technical aptitude, attention to detail, superior written and verbal communication, critical thinking, influencing, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to establish credibility and rapport quickly and to give and receive coaching and feedback.

• Recognized relevant certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS.
