Senior Underwriting Specialist (Life Insurance)

Location: US; hybrid work arrangement; authorization to work in the US is required.

What you will do

• Underwrite individual life insurance contracts exceeding $1,000,000 and aggregate amounts above $1.5 million.
• Appraise, classify, approve, or decline applications for new insurance, plan changes, conversions, exchanges, reinstatements, and additional benefits.
• Determine extra premiums for medical impairments and special hazards, including aviation, occupation, foreign residence or travel, and unusual avocations.
• Classify applicants to reduce adverse selection while maintaining equitable mortality.
• Perform second reviews of special cases for accuracy and compliance with underwriting standards.
• Communicate with field force and Home Office personnel and answer inquiries about underwriting policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

• BS or BA degree required.
• LOMA and ALU courses required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy, with the ability to apply medical knowledge to insurance applications.
• Knowledge of federal and state insurance regulations.
• Ability to interpret EKG results.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the workday.
• Authorization to work in the US is required.
