Memory Firmware Engineer

Location: Hybrid work model with on-site and off-site work at the hirify.global site in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States.

Annual salary: $128,880–$156,740 USD.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance firmware for memory subsystem initialization, training, calibration, and configuration.
• Design firmware interfaces connecting hardware and software components.
• Integrate firmware into simulation and validation environments.
• Debug firmware issues in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
• Collaborate with architecture, RTL design, verification, validation, and silicon engineering teams.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, compliance with JEDEC standards, and performance and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields with 3+ months of experience through internships, research, academic projects, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience programming in C and/or C++.
• Basic understanding of computer architecture, embedded systems, or low-level software development.
• Knowledge of firmware debugging, software testing, or simulation methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, ownership, attention to detail, curiosity, and adaptability.

Nice to have

• Exposure to DDR, LPDDR, HBM, or related memory architectures.
• Familiarity with memory controllers, memory training concepts, or hardware-software interfaces.
• Experience with silicon validation, firmware validation, or hardware debugging.
• Knowledge of JEDEC standards.
• Experience using debugging, emulation, or simulation tools.
• Coursework or project experience involving embedded systems, firmware development, or computer architecture.
