Research Associate/Senior Research Associate (Avian Cell Engineering)

Location: Dallas, TX; the position is based out of Dallas, and relocation assistance is available. Some international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Test novel cell culture conditions and sort, screen, and expand avian primordial germ cells using current protocols and newly developed approaches.
• Collect blood and tissue from avian embryos using a dissection microscope for cell line derivation.
• Inject primordial germ cells into surrogate embryos using a micropipette under a microscope.
• Work on project milestones and participate in laboratory meetings.
• Prepare project progress reports and presentations while maintaining organized laboratory records.

Requirements

• Experience manipulating embryos under a microscope.
• Experience with cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection methodologies.
• Experience in molecular biology, including nucleic acid and protein extraction and gel electrophoresis.
• Experience with qPCR, FACS, flow cytometry, and immunostaining.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
• BA, BS, MA, or MS in biological sciences, developmental biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or a related scientific field.
