Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; onsite lab adjacent to manufacturing.

Salary: $92,500–$171,500 per year in New York State.

What you will do

• Support military communication products throughout their lifecycle, including analog, digital, and RF hardware.
• Investigate factory failures, monitor yields, troubleshoot units, modules, boards, and components, and implement corrective actions.
• Design and conduct engineering experiments, simulations, circuit analyses, and test improvements to increase yields and product quality.
• Select and qualify alternate components, address component shortages and obsolescence, and redesign circuits or sub-assemblies when required.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, technicians, and junior engineers on manufacturability, testability, product launches, and production readiness.
• Lead investigations, coordinate tasks, prioritize work, and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 4 years of related experience; alternatively, 10 years of related Electrical Engineering experience without a degree.
• Component-level hardware troubleshooting experience with analog and digital circuits.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, operate in a fast-paced environment, and interface with multiple teams.
• Ability to design and conduct engineering experiments, interpret test results, and analyze circuits and components using simulation tools.
• Experience leading small technical design or troubleshooting teams, directing work, and prioritizing tasks to meet yield and shipment targets.
• Ability to use oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum and network analyzers, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
• Ability to analyze designs and communicate technical information to support staff; demonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Experience with tactical radios.
• Experience reading schematics and datasheets, probing circuits, and understanding proper circuit operation.
• Experience troubleshooting circuit assemblies to component level.
• Ability to select alternate electronic components and define the testing required to qualify them.
• Working knowledge of LabVIEW and Jira.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
