Field Application Engineer - Microcontrollers

Location: USA (home based), United States of America; willing to travel up to 25%, mostly within California and Michigan.

What you will do

• Support microcontroller customers in deploying the latest silicon technology into next-generation vehicles.
• Develop and present cross-functional system solutions, including concepts, silicon design, and validation plans aligned with customer needs.
• Identify opportunities, bring up and port software, build benches, and conduct schematic and PCB design reviews.
• Identify technical root causes and drive resolution with internal teams, customers, and supply base partners.
• Manage cross-functional enterprise plans through completion on schedule and according to customer expectations.
• Provide technical training to customers and NXP colleagues and give product development feedback to engineering and product teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of development engineering or applications support experience with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
• Experience with C and C++ and a record of developing embedded firmware.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SoC hardware interfaces, including Ethernet, MIPI, SDIO, LPDDR3/4, Quad/Octal SPI, USB 2.0/3.0, UART, SPI, and I2C.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues personally, analyze data and schematics, and develop effective solutions.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%, mostly within California and Michigan.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ARM Cortex processors.
• Experience with SafeRTOS, FreeRTOS, or Zephyr.
• Firsthand knowledge of graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers.
• Experience in microcontroller electronics and software development.
• Experience as a Field Application Engineer.
