Mechanical Engineer I (Generators)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA; onsite.

What you will do

• Design, validate, and support the launch of new generator and power tool products.
• Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, product specifications, and material part specifications.
• Define functional requirements and design, test, and integrate standard, less complex components.
• Develop and evaluate fitness-for-use testing, product specifications, and process validation plans.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, service, marketing, manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists.
• Optimize basic designs for manufacturability and evaluate cost, reliability, risk, safety, and overall design effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 3 months of relevant work experience.
• Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately.
• Ability to translate technical information for different audiences.
• Basic engineering knowledge and ability to solve basic engineering problems.
• Good decision-making skills and proficient oral and written communication.
• Ability to perform regular standing and walking, use hands to manipulate objects or controls, and occasionally stoop, bend, reach above the shoulders, or lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform frequent computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and adjustment of focus; occasional travel is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D modeling using Creo or SolidWorks.
• Experience with machine design.
