Expected base salary range: $268,000–$384,000 USD annually for U.S.-based positions; international salaries are set to local market.

Company

hirify.global builds AI systems and proprietary AI Science Factory instruments to autonomously execute the scientific method and accelerate discovery across medicine, materials, and energy.

What you will do

  • Conduct original computational biology research for AI safety, formulate research questions, develop computational approaches, and design reproducible studies on biological capabilities, risks, and safeguards.
  • Build and maintain an integrated assessment of how large language models, specialized biological models, agents, and automated laboratories interact within scientific workflows.
  • Assess biological feasibility, uncertainty, and misuse significance by combining computational research with literature, model assessments, experimental findings, and expert input.
  • Identify gaps in expertise, frame questions for external specialists, and integrate their findings into safety judgments.
  • Translate scientific risk judgments into dual-use policy boundaries, evaluation priorities, and mitigation requirements.
  • Collaborate with threat modelers, automated-safety researchers, experimental scientists, and mitigation engineers on evaluations and red-teaming studies.

Requirements

  • PhD or comparable experience in computational biology or a related quantitative biological discipline, with a record of original research from question formulation and computational study design through defensible findings.
  • Substantive experience assessing biological dual-use risks, including pathogen-related, toxin-related, or other consequential biological misuse.
  • Experience applying biological expertise to AI safety through threat-model analysis, evaluation or red-teaming work, or mitigation design.
  • Sound judgment about the relationship between computational predictions, biological function, and experimental evidence, including uncertainty and the limits of expertise.
  • Strong quantitative analysis and scientific programming skills, including developing computational approaches, running reproducible studies, and critically investigating model outputs and biological data.
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar questions, identify appropriate specialists, and communicate defensible conclusions across scientific, engineering, and policy teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience connecting biological modeling or design to experimental validation, including workflows combining large language models, specialized models, agents, or laboratory automation.
  • Experience commissioning specialist research or coordinating external scientific collaborators.

Culture & Benefits

  • High-agency, talent-dense AI safety team working across science, model training, and lab integration.
  • U.S. full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage; employer-paid life and disability insurance; flexible time off; company-wide holidays; and paid parental leave.
  • U.S. benefits also include educational assistance, commuter benefits including bike-share memberships for office-based employees, and a subsidized lunch program.
  • Full-time employees outside the U.S. receive benefits tailored to their region.
  • Bonus potential and generous early-stage equity are offered in addition to base compensation.
