Senior Specialist, Bioprocess Engineer (Vaccine Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid, De Soto, Kansas, United States; first shift Monday through Friday, with off-shift coverage potentially required based on manufacturing and technology-transfer activities. Domestic relocation is listed; travel requirements are 10%.

Salary: $117,000–$184,200 annual base salary, with annual bonus and long-term incentive eligibility where applicable.

What you will do

• Coordinate and own regional knowledge-management implementation for assigned vaccine processes, including transfer packages, playbooks, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Lead end-to-end regional vaccine technology transfers and ensure technical readiness and implementation at receiving sites.
• Assess and mitigate technical risks before transfers using structured assessments and data-driven action plans.
• Lead cross-functional technical projects and workstreams that support technology transfer and improve process performance.
• Train and mentor new hires and provide technical support to manufacturing, Quality, and other partners.
• Ensure post-transfer process robustness through monitoring, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, compliant documentation, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related life science or engineering field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in biopharmaceutical or vaccine manufacturing, process development, or technology transfer.
• Proven experience leading technology transfers or major technical projects as an individual contributor.
• Strong understanding of upstream, downstream, fill-finish, and/or lyophilization processes in vaccine or biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience working in vaccine or biopharmaceutical regulated environments.
• Experience with process characterization, scale-up/scale-down, and process robustness.
• Technical and problem-solving skills to motivate cross-functional teams responsible for implementation.
• Ability to train, coach, and influence others, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• High ownership, scientific rigor, continuous-improvement mindset, technical risk-assessment capability, data-analysis proficiency, and ability to prioritize and achieve business results.
• Ability to work first shift Monday through Friday and provide off-shift coverage when required by manufacturing or transfer activities.
• Valid driving license required.
