Health Educator

Location: Bryan, Texas; face-to-face work with schools and communities, including on-site meetings, trainings, after-hour events, and travel to various off-site locations.

What you will do

• Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services.
• Implement Youth Aware of Mental Health training and education programs for students in grades 8–12.
• Deliver health education activities, presentations, workshops, behavior-change sessions, and small-group discussions with schools, counselors, teachers, administrators, communities, and providers.
• Conduct outreach to schools not enrolled in YAM and maintain program schedules, resources, training records, and delivery materials.
• Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, school districts, and community partners; provide current health information and appropriate school-district resources.
• Collect training data, prepare education materials, participate in state consultation calls, and support project reporting and program fidelity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, or an applicable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of related experience.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Knowledge of health education responsibilities and competencies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to the college.
• Ability to conduct presentations, workshop trainings, individual behavior-change sessions, and small-group discussions and facilitation.
• Availability for after-hour events, attendance at off-site trainings and events, additional background screening including FBI fingerprinting, and compliance with a flexible working arrangement agreement.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or another specialty related to the job function.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
