K-12 Rural Program Coordinator I (Rural Medicine)

Location: Bryan and College Station, Texas, United States; alternate work location may be permitted under university guidelines. The role requires independent travel to rural and remote locations, up to 30% or more travel, and occasional work beyond normal office hours or on weekends.

What you will do

• Plan and coordinate outreach activities, camps, field trips, and virtual learning events that introduce K-12 students to healthcare careers.
• Coordinate event logistics, including venues, hotels, catering, space rentals, vendors, and travel arrangements.
• Ensure compliance with University Youth Protection program guidelines.
• Build relationships with rural school districts, teachers, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders.
• Track participation, evaluate outcomes, prepare reports, and document the impact of rural medicine outreach.
• Prepare presentations and training materials, respond to program inquiries, and represent the program at meetings, conferences, and community events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in teaching, program coordination, or a related area.
• At least two years of related experience in a school district, pathway program, healthcare education, or a related setting.
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, problem-solving, judgment, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to travel independently to rural and remote locations and work in heat and cold weather conditions.
• A Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days may be required.

Nice to have

• Texas teaching certification and five years of experience in an educational setting.
• Experience with conference and event planning, curriculum delivery, and junior high or high school pathway programs.
• Experience working with faculty, staff, and students or prior Texas A&M experience.
• Experience as a CTE or science teacher in a Texas public school.
