Artificial Intelligence Specialty Intern

Location: New York, USA; hybrid work with eligible employees able to work remotely one day per week.

Salary: $32/hour for undergraduate students; $40/hour for graduate students.

What you will do

• Identify opportunities to apply AI to business processes and enterprise applications across fan experience, basketball operations, player health, and other functions.
• Develop and test AI-enabled prototypes, including agentic solutions, for operational and business needs.
• Support end-to-end project cycles from problem definition and data acquisition through model creation, evaluation, and stakeholder demonstrations.
• Translate business needs into AI/ML solution frameworks with guidance from AI and data governance leaders.
• Evaluate AI use cases, maintain quality and alignment within project teams, and apply responsible AI practices.
• Document methodologies, workflows, and findings to support transferability and scale.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree as a rising senior or in a graduate degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
• Relevant coursework, projects, or experience with AI tools or machine learning techniques.
• Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
• At least one AI-powered application or automation built through coursework, personal projects, research, or hackathons.
• Understanding of how large language models work, including their limitations.
• Familiarity with APIs, Git, and software testing, including the ability to explain and check code written with AI coding assistants.
• Ability to handle data and access securely.
• Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills, including explaining technical work to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities; strong academic standing and demonstrated leadership through extracurricular or community experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI agents or multi-step workflows, including tool calling, MCP, or reusable skills.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation and search over source material.
• Experience with AI coding and development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Amazon Bedrock, or Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Experience testing and measuring AI quality, including accuracy, speed, and cost.
• Product design experience and experience building user interfaces for AI tools.
• For basketball or player health projects, experience with computer vision, 3D, game engines such as Unreal Engine, or sensor data.
• Prior internship or hands-on project experience in technology or applied AI.
