Senior Software Engineer (Grafana Search & Storage)

Location: Remote for candidates located in Canada and the US.

Compensation in Canada: CAD $164,490–$197,389 OTE/base, plus RSUs.

What you will do

• Develop Grafana’s next-generation storage layer, including Unified Storage, Search, and Folders for the App Platform.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical distributed cloud systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability.
• Drive projects from ideation and requirements through delivery, operations, and iterative improvement based on customer feedback.
• Contribute to open-source projects and collaborate on design discussions across team boundaries.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of production services.
• Mentor teammates, communicate independently in a remote environment, and deepen knowledge of a large distributed codebase and cloud product.

Requirements

• Solid experience with Go, Rust, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems.
• Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping products to customers in a self-driven way.
• Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
• Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an independent attitude in a fully remote setup.
• Ability to analyze, design, and build modular solutions, deliver MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate on complex challenges.
• Customer-focused approach and attention to building intuitive products that meet customer needs.

Nice to have

• Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, including on-call, or through hobby and homelab projects.
• Familiarity with on-call work, operations, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code.
