NewsNation Segment Producer, PRIME (Chicago)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite at the Chicago office. Must work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year.

What you will do

• Pitch stories daily and identify high-profile guests and segments for the weekend primetime newscast.
• Write, organize, and produce scripts and editorial elements for show and interview segments.
• Create requests for dynamic graphic and video elements and gather visual material.
• Monitor current news and locate people, images, and sound editorial information through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Dataminr, YouTube, and other platforms.
• Find reliable guests and witnesses quickly during breaking news situations.
• Collaborate with show producers, on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital, engineering staff, and network leadership.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in national or major-market news.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in journalism or a related field.
• Strong news judgment, editorial sensibilities, and broadcast newswriting skills.
• Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Ability to self-direct, stay motivated, and work effectively with a diverse group of people.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to adjust schedules and assignments as network needs evolve.
