Politics Video Producer/Editor (Digital Video)

Location: Hybrid in New York, New York; must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.; unrestricted U.S. work authorization required.

Salary: USD 93,000–110,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Produce original political video daily with the DC political unit, campaign embeds, field producers, reporters, and editors.
• Write, edit, and produce vertical video for digital platforms, including scripts, headlines, captions, and social copy.
• Identify compelling moments, interviews, exchanges, visuals, and story angles from campaign coverage.
• Monitor campaign notes, candidate schedules, and breaking news, reacting quickly with accurate and competitive video.
• Edit longer-form video for YouTube, OTT, and other digital platforms.
• Develop new social video formats and franchises around the 2028 election while meeting editorial, legal, and Standards and Practices requirements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of digital, social, or video producing, editing, and writing experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. politics, campaigns, elections, and issues shaping the 2028 cycle.
• Expertise in Adobe Premiere and the ability to edit efficiently under deadline.
• Demonstrated experience producing and editing original digital video.
• Strong editorial judgment; ability to identify compelling story elements and translate complicated stories into clear, accurate, engaging video.
• Excellent scriptwriting, headline-writing, and copy-editing skills, with strong attention to accuracy, fairness, context, and nuance.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced news environment, work independently, and take editorial direction and feedback.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C., have unrestricted U.S. work authorization, work flexible hours including nights, weekends, breaking news, debates, election events, and special projects, and hold a valid U.S. driver's license with willingness to drive.

Nice to have

• Experience covering politics, elections, Congress, or Washington news.
• Experience working with reporters or field teams on video stories.
• Strong instinct for emerging political stories and audience conversation.
• Familiarity with camera equipment, audio gathering, and basic field production.
• Experience creating both vertical social video and longer-form digital video.
• Ability to stay calm, organized, and decisive under deadline pressure, with enthusiasm for political reporting and campaign coverage.
