Specialist External Affairs (Mining)

Location: London, United Kingdom; this role is based in London.

What you will do

• Lead the development and implementation of market development communications strategies aligned with the corporate communications framework.
• Develop positioning, messaging, campaigns, events, and content for external stakeholders, media, corporate channels, regional channels, and China-focused platforms.
• Drive internal communications and alignment across the Marketing function and coordinate messaging across London, Singapore, and Shanghai.
• Support thought leadership, reputation building, crisis communications, media strategies, and preparation of holding statements.
• Build and maintain networks with media, trade associations, and other external stakeholders.
• Prepare briefing documents for media interviews, events, presentations, and corporate reporting processes, and monitor relevant media coverage for senior leadership.

Requirements

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of work experience.
• Experience in media relations and public relations, internal communications, external affairs, or corporate communications.
• Experience developing and maintaining communications strategies in an international organisation.
• Experience influencing colleagues and senior management, managing stakeholders, and collaborating across functions.
• Experience in digital communications and social media management, with a strong understanding of communications channels and hands-on experience maintaining them.
• Ability to build and maintain effective people networks and work across different cultures and business environments.
• Clear and strategic thinking, prioritisation, strong time management, organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage numerous international projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to distil complex information into clear, impactful messaging.
