Senior Decision Support Analyst

What you will do

• Conduct detailed analysis of volume, revenue, cost, profitability, and other financial results.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses for Highmark, Allegheny Health Network, and Finance leadership.
• Analyze variances against budgets, forecasts, prior years, and other benchmarks to identify improvement opportunities.
• Combine financial analysis with operational and clinical data to provide holistic insights.
• Use rate and volume calculations to quantify the impact of patient mix, procedure mix, payor mix, and other business changes.
• Create executive-level summaries with findings, recommendations, and takeaways, while mentoring junior analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field, or 6 years of related and progressive experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3 years of experience in decision support and data analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial results, operational metrics, clinical outcomes, and other datasets.
• Ability to work with large quantities of detailed data and identify strategic insights affecting business operations and performance.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for developing partnerships across the organization.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and drives major projects with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools.
• Experience with Alteryx or other data wrangling and ETL tools.
• Experience with R, Python, or other statistical and programming tools.
• Experience with Strata or another cost accounting system.
• 3 years of experience in a clinical setting or general understanding of hospital and physician practice operations.
• 3 years of experience in healthcare, particularly hospitals or other healthcare providers.
