Coordinating Editor - Politics, MS NOW Digital (Politics)

Location: Hybrid role based in Washington, D.C.; regular schedule is 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility as breaking news demands. Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C. and have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.

Salary: USD 115,000–130,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Identify distinctive political storylines and drive scoops for MS NOW Digital.
• Coordinate with the Washington, D.C. bureau and breaking news teams to deliver timely journalism.
• Track the 2028 presidential campaign and candidates, including reporter deployment and linear TV plans.
• Help lead live blog coverage and edit or occasionally write breaking news and enterprise articles.
• Collaborate with editorial and platform teams to optimize reader engagement, headlines, push alerts, and newsletters.
• Work with platform producers to keep the homepage updated and fresh.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience.
• 8+ years of experience working in a newsroom environment and 8+ years working in a strictly digital shop.
• Experience working in breaking news and political news.
• Ability to edit quickly and accurately, with exceptional writing and editing skills.
• Deep understanding of journalistic standards and the MS NOW voice and brand.
• Ability to work across platforms and in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom.
• Desire to work in a creative, demanding, and competitive environment.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States and willingness to work in Washington, D.C.
