TL;DR
Senior Structural Engineer (Robotics Automation): Designing, analyzing, and validating structural systems for robots, grids, charging systems, and related mechanical systems from concept through production with an accent on finite element analysis, fatigue, vibration, durability, and manufacturability. Focus on correlating simulations with physical tests, investigating structural failures, optimizing load paths, and delivering reliable systems for demanding warehouse environments.

Location: Atlanta, GA, USA; onsite role.

Company

hirify.global is a global technology company developing software-driven automated order fulfillment systems, including robots, grids, cubes, and charging systems.

What you will do

  • Lead structural design, analysis, and validation of mechanical systems from concept through detailed design, simulation, testing, and production release.
  • Own structural architecture, load paths, and engineering trade-offs across strength, stiffness, weight, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
  • Perform static, dynamic, vibration, fatigue, impact, modal, seismic, environmental, and life-cycle analyses; develop and correlate FEA models with physical test results.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into structural failures, field issues, reliability concerns, and product performance deviations.
  • Define and execute structural verification through hand calculations, simulation, laboratory testing, and system-level validation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing, quality, systems engineering, suppliers, and production teams, including support for certification and lifecycle changes.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering with an emphasis on structural analysis and product development.
  • Experience developing and validating structural systems from concept through production.
  • Strong proficiency with finite element analysis tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Ansys Workbench, or equivalent simulation platforms; experience with Ansys, Inventor, Mathcad Prime, and related structural engineering software.
  • Experience performing static, dynamic, vibration, fatigue, modal, and impact analysis of mechanical structures.
  • Strong understanding of load paths, stress and strain analysis, structural optimization, failure mechanisms, fatigue life prediction, durability assessment, vibration analysis, and reliability engineering.
  • Experience developing, correlating, and validating analytical and FEA models against physical test data, and conducting verification through simulation, laboratory testing, and analytical methods.
  • Strong understanding of material behavior in aluminum extrusions, steel structures, welded assemblies, bolted joints, castings, and machined components.
  • Working knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and best practices, including ISO, Eurocode, ASCE, ASTM, or other applicable standards.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in technical decision-making, design reviews, problem solving, and mentoring, plus strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills with a hands-on engineering mindset.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing robotics, automation equipment, autonomous systems, material handling equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Experience with lightweight structural systems, large mechanical assemblies, and high-duty-cycle products.
  • Experience with modal analysis, vibration mitigation, and dynamic loading of moving systems.
  • Experience evaluating floor loading, installation requirements, and operational loads in warehouse environments.
  • Experience working in cross-functional product development teams spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines.
  • Familiarity with point-cloud and reality-capture tools such as Cyclone 3DR.
  • Experience with automated warehouse products.

Culture & Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Health Savings Account with a company contribution.
  • Paid time off including 12 holidays, paid exercise time, paid volunteer time, and paid parental leave for all new parents.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match and discretionary profit-sharing contribution.
  • Educational assistance and professional development programs, including mentorship and coaching with external industry leaders.
  • Group life insurance, voluntary additional life insurance, disability insurance, and employee assistance programs.
