Mechanical Integrity Consultant III - Charlotte, NC (58188) (FEA/SolidWorks)

Location: Primarily remote in the United States, with occasional office attendance coordinated in advance; position is located near Charlotte, NC, in the Ballantyne area. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

What you will do

• Develop and analyze 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, thermal, fatigue, vibration, buckling, contact, and assembly FEA simulations using SolidWorks Simulation.
• Validate analytical models through testing, calculations, and engineering judgment.
• Support product development from concept through manufacturing and field implementation, including prototype testing, inspection, and design verification.
• Prepare engineering calculations and technical reports covering assumptions, methods, results, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, manufacturing personnel, and customers to resolve technical challenges, investigate failures, and optimize designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of hands-on FEA experience using SolidWorks Simulation.
• Strong understanding of linear and nonlinear static analysis, fatigue analysis, thermal analysis, modal and vibration analysis, buckling analysis, and contact and assembly interactions.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD modeling and drawing development.
• Knowledge of mechanics of materials, strength of materials, structural design, material properties, and failure modes.
• Experience generating professional engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and engineering accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, coordinate work, and communicate complex engineering concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee in the United States.
• Ability to learn and comply with company policies and procedures.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or Engineer Intern certification.
• Experience with pressure vessels, tanks, lifting devices, piping systems, or industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with ASME, API, AISC, AWS, and related industry standards.
• Experience with ANSYS, Abaqus, or Inventor Nastran.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, inspection, or field engineering projects.
