Mobile Software Engineer Intern - Summer 2027 (Android)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; Remote

Compensation: $47/hour for undergraduate students, $53/hour for graduate students, and $58/hour for PhD students. Compensation may vary based on regional location and other factors.

What you will do

• Design, prototype, refine, and release advanced mobile interfaces for autonomous drones.
• Contribute to user interfaces for an autonomous flying camera.
• Use Android ecosystems and the Drone Intelligence API to develop drone-app experiences.
• Improve user experiences through augmented reality, in-app content creation, and sharing capabilities.
• Iterate on designs using user feedback, internal testing, and experience piloting hirify.global drones.

Requirements

• Senior or MS-level college student with practical project or industry experience developing Android mobile applications.
• Passion for meticulously crafted interfaces balancing ease of use, elegance, and power.
• Experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, Gradle, adb, Linux, Android Architecture Components, and Jetpack Compose.
• Ability to create tools and automate workflows using Python scripts.
• Appreciation for code review and collaborative development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ and OpenGL.
• Code shipped to the App Store or Google Play Store.
• Experience with IoT or embedded devices using Android NDK.
