Senior Engineer - Mobile Application (Android)

Location: Austin, Texas, or remote within the United States

Base salary: $180,000–$195,000 per year, plus a 10% performance bonus

What you will do

• Build, troubleshoot, design, code, and test enterprise Android applications through the full agile development lifecycle.
• Implement production-quality features for the hirify.global Client application and extend it using Android ecosystem capabilities.
• Protect intellectual property, user data, and system integrity through secure software design, implementation, and deployment practices.
• Deliver code through an evolving CI/CD pipeline to on-premises and public cloud environments.
• Write unit tests and execute automated test suites.
• Communicate delivery status through Jira and daily stand-ups while collaborating with a small engineering team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Android mobile application development experience.
• 3+ years leading mobile application development.
• Strong Kotlin skills, including coroutines and Flow, plus experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with Gradle Kotlin DSL, multi-module Android projects, dependency injection, MVVM, and unidirectional data flow.
• Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and a mocking library, and testing cloud-based applications on AWS or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Android Jetpack, Java threading, Linux/Unix, and Git.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, or iOS development.
• Experience with gRPC, Spice, Android camera systems, notifications, or media encoders and decoders.
• Experience working in a fast-growing startup environment and handling ambiguous requirements with stakeholders.
