Senior Manager Analytics - Artificial Intelligence R&D (AI)

Salary: $159,120–$258,570 per year.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision for applied AI and shape a focused portfolio of high-impact initiatives.
• Lead production-intent prototypes and reference architectures for handoff to engineering and platform teams responsible for productionization and MLOps.
• Define technical standards, patterns, evaluation criteria, and R&D practices covering offline and online testing, benchmarking, trade-offs, and responsible AI.
• Partner with business, long-term research, product, engineering, dealer, customer, and external technology teams to advance AI use cases and mature novel methods.
• Lead senior data scientists and AI engineers through hiring, performance management, technical coaching, career development, and modeling and engineering standards.
• Represent the advanced technology pod to AI R&D leadership and executives, connecting AI initiatives with business outcomes and delivery plans.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills, including simplifying complex technical topics for executive audiences and aligning stakeholders around an applied AI vision.
• Strong statistical and experimental rigor for evaluating AI systems and guiding decisions.
• Ability to identify high-value AI opportunities and shape them into focused, actionable initiatives.
• Experience leading senior technical teams, providing coaching and feedback, setting technical standards, partnering across functions, and stabilizing delivery while raising the technical bar.
• Strong system-level thinking across data, models, and integration, including sound architectural trade-offs.
• Deep understanding of translating research and experimentation into structured, production-intent prototypes and reference architectures.
• Strong expertise in modern AI methods, including large language models, generative systems, and advanced machine learning techniques.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
• Significant experience leading applied AI or AI R&D teams delivering production-intent prototypes and reference architectures.
• Strong command of Python-based machine learning stacks and modern AI frameworks.
• Experience with A/B testing, statistical significance, and rigorous measurement of accuracy, latency, cost, and safety.
• Experience partnering with AWS, Microsoft and Azure, NVIDIA, or equivalent hyperscaler and hardware partners.
• Familiarity with simulation and synthetic environments for AI development in physical systems.
• Experience defining reference architectures, evaluation harnesses, and technical playbooks adopted by downstream engineering and platform teams.
• Experience with design thinking and user research for AI experiences serving operators, dealers, or field users, including operator-facing or field-deployed AI.
• Strong focus on responsible AI, data classification, and PII handling under enterprise compliance expectations.
• Exposure to industrial products, dealer networks, or comparable equipment ecosystems.
