Principal Security Architect (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid role based in Fort Mill/Charlotte, United States; other listed locations include Austin, TX and Tempe.

Salary: $153,470–$255,749 per year.

What you will do

• Design and lead cloud, on-premises, data, API, and enterprise security architectures.
• Secure APIs using access controls, OAuth, JWT, and API gateway security.
• Develop reusable security design patterns, standards, and policies aligned with industry practices and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with development, operations, business, and enterprise architecture stakeholders to align security initiatives with business objectives.
• Conduct threat modeling, risk assessment, threat analysis, vulnerability management, SIEM implementation, log analysis, and incident response.
• Secure AI/ML models and pipelines through model integrity verification, secure feature engineering, anomaly detection, data privacy controls, and ethical AI practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in secure architecture design.
• 8+ years of experience with information security controls, guidelines, and standards, including ISO 27000 series, OWASP, CSA CCM, CIS 20 Critical Security Controls, SOX, and NIST.
• Expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, network security, cloud security, identity management, encryption, zero-trust architectures, and secure DevOps across diverse IT environments.
• Experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, vulnerability management, SIEM, log analysis, incident response, and threat intelligence in complex enterprise environments.
• Ability to consult, negotiate, communicate, build consensus, and present; remain calm under pressure while managing multiple tasks; and apply constructive feedback.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Coding or technical knowledge in Java, C#/.NET, Ruby, or Python.
• Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, security groups, ACLs, AWS Security Hub, AWS WAF, and Amazon GuardDuty.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible.
• Experience securing scalable web architectures and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of malware, emerging threats, attacks, and vulnerability management.
• CCSP, another cloud certification, CISSP, or GIAC certification.
• Experience securing ML models and AI pipelines in financial services, with knowledge of ML algorithms, deep learning frameworks, AI ethics, AI/ML security controls, OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, API threat modeling, and automated security testing.
