DevOps Production Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York office, with in-office work required four days per week.

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, excluding bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Operate production trading systems across Linux hosts and network infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and troubleshooting.
• Build and extend monitoring, alerting, deployment, and testing tooling using Grafana, Wireshark, Ansible, and pytest.
• Apply infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices to production systems.
• Optimize software and hardware performance for latency, throughput, and jitter, including C++ work and hands-on hardware testing.
• Interface with external venue and counterparty systems, identify failure patterns, and propose resilience improvements.
• Make real-time risk/reward decisions affecting live trading and support traders and other non-technical users.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of professional experience in production engineering, site reliability engineering, systems administration, or a related field.
• Linux-native expertise, including file and process management, system troubleshooting, debugging, configuration, and networking.
• Strong Python skills for backend development, including clean, efficient, Pythonic code.
• Understanding of GitOps and infrastructure as code.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical curiosity, attention to detail, tactical judgment, ownership, accountability, and collaboration across engineering, trading, and operations.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with C++ and the ability to read and interface with high-performance trading engine code.
• High-performance networking experience, including low deterministic latency, high throughput, minimal jitter, kernel bypass, hardware timestamping, multicast, or cut-through switches.
