Principal Software Engineer (Information Security)

Location: ISD Office - DGTC AR Bentonville Home Office; primary location at 805 SE Moberly Ln., Bentonville, Arkansas, United States. Onsite, full-time position.

Salary: $110,000–$220,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and, for certain positions, stock.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and hands-on development of secure, scalable software platforms aligned with business and security requirements.
• Set technical direction and translate complex requirements into durable, scalable engineering solutions.
• Establish coding standards, security controls, and engineering patterns for availability, reliability, resiliency, and maintainability.
• Drive AI/ML and intelligent automation for risk, compliance, and access governance.
• Lead technical design and code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD, observability, and automation to improve software quality and operational excellence.
• Influence architecture decisions across engineering, security, infrastructure, product, and business teams while mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related area and 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company; or 7 years of experience in software engineering or a related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
• Extensive software engineering experience focused on information security and IT security architecture.
• Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, security controls, and business continuity planning.
• Expertise in coding standards, debugging, and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience developing test strategies, managing defects, and applying quality assurance processes.
• Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into functional and technical designs.
• Stakeholder management and communication skills to influence technical outcomes and foster collaboration.

Nice to have

• Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC.
• Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related area, plus 3 years of experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
• Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, digital accessibility best practices, and accessibility standards and guidelines.
