Senior Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, United States; expected to report to the assigned location at least 3 times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits are available under company policy.

Salary: Expected annual base compensation of $174,900–$261,300, plus bonus potential and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, ship, and operate scalable, high-performance data-labeling user experiences, services, APIs, and workflows.
• Build automation, efficiency dashboards, auto-QA, and autolabel-review tools that improve labeling quality and reduce the time from ML ideas to trained models.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate pre-labeling, autolabeling, and active-learning loops into machine-led annotation systems.
• Use AI-assisted development workflows, including code assistants, automated documentation, and test generation, while maintaining engineering quality.
• Own projects from problem framing through design, implementation, rollout, code reviews, and technical decisions.
• Work with ML, Operations, Product, Data Science, and platform teams to deliver workflows, APIs, and UIs meeting quality, cost, and latency goals.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building robust distributed platforms and applications.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as agentic coding, search, and documentation generators to accelerate implementation, debugging, and delivery.
• Proficiency writing and reviewing scalable, performant full-stack code using Python, TypeScript, Go, React, SQL, Redux, GraphQL, and WebGL.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and API design.
• Strong fundamentals in object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, TDD, code quality, observability, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing and operating cloud-based applications.
• Experience shipping and operating end-to-end products or features in production.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including explaining tradeoffs, influencing peers, and working through ambiguity with cross-functional partners.
• Passion for self-driving technology, willingness to learn new technologies across frontend, backend, and data/ML-adjacent systems, and empathy for labelers, ML engineers, and Operations users.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern web APIs such as Service Workers, Cache Storage, and IndexedDB in data-intensive or visualization-heavy applications.
• Close collaboration experience with customers, product managers, designers, and user experience researchers.
• Experience with computer vision, machine learning, or data-centric AI projects involving labeled data, data quality, or autolabeling loops.
• Familiarity with data-labeling platforms or tools for large labeling workforces, including annotation UIs, workflow engines, and quality systems.
• Experience with A/B testing and telemetry or observability systems for measuring impact and reliability.
• Experience writing and reviewing high-quality frontend code using TypeScript, React, Redux, GraphQL, WebGL, or similar technologies.
