Staff ML Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid; candidates must live or relocate within a 180-mile radius of Bloomington, Illinois; Dunwoody, Georgia; Richardson, Texas; or Tempe, Arizona, with regular office attendance.

Salary: $150,000–$198,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and scale enterprise-grade AI/ML systems, APIs, feature pipelines, and reusable engineering components.
• Develop real-time or near-real-time decisioning and recommendation systems incorporating predictive models, business rules, eligibility, prioritization, and optimization.
• Build closed-loop feedback mechanisms that use customer interactions and business outcomes to improve recommendations.
• Develop reliable data and ML pipelines with Python, PySpark, SQL, Databricks, and AWS.
• Implement MLOps workflows for deployment, serving, versioning, monitoring, CI/CD, and retraining.
• Architect production-grade agentic AI applications and lead technical architecture, engineering standards, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in ML engineering, software engineering, or related technical disciplines, with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Expert-level Python, SQL, PySpark, and Apache Spark skills, with experience in APIs, microservices, production software, data pipelines, and feature pipelines.
• Deep hands-on Databricks experience, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Workflows, plus strong AWS experience with S3, IAM, compute, and application integration.
• Experience across the production ML lifecycle, including model integration, deployment, serving, monitoring, versioning, retraining, MLflow, and CI/CD.
• Experience building low-latency inference services, decisioning APIs, scalable recommendation systems, and LLM-powered or agentic AI applications.
• Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Next Best Action, recommendation, personalization, decision optimization, contextual bandits, reinforcement learning, uplift modeling, or ranking algorithms.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, or similar agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience developing or training ML models.
