Senior Software Engineer — Employee Experience Engineering (EXE)

Location: Bay Area, CA, US

Salary: $217,800–$326,800 USD annually for Zone A; other U.S. zones range from $185,200–$277,800 to $207,000–$310,400 annually.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and operate scalable, secure, and reliable internal applications, platforms, and backend services.
• Develop employee-facing features and automated workflows supporting hiring, onboarding, and access to corporate services.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations connecting internal platforms, enterprise applications, and third-party services.
• Own solutions from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, support, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Corporate Engineering, People Technology, Security, and other cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, roadmaps, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production applications.
• Strong full-stack development experience with modern frontend and backend technologies.
• Experience with React, Ruby on Rails, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, data structures, and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed systems, service reliability, and observability.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production monitoring.
• Ability to independently drive complex technical projects, collaborate across engineering teams, communicate effectively, demonstrate customer empathy, and deliver excellent employee experiences.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal enterprise applications or employee-facing platforms.
• Experience integrating HR, identity, access management, or other enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, and secure API integrations.
• Experience automating employee lifecycle workflows, including hiring, onboarding, and access provisioning.
• Experience with AI-assisted development or integrating AI capabilities into applications.
• Experience improving developer productivity, engineering workflows, or internal platforms.
