Data Center Technician - Sandusky, OH

Location: Sandusky, OH; 100% onsite at a data center, with up to 10% travel to other data center locations and a rotating on-call schedule within a 24/7 environment.

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 base salary per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits based on eligibility.

What you will do

• Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability, reliability, and defined service levels.
• Conduct hardware and network diagnostics, physical repairs, and root cause analysis of hardware and software failures.
• Respond to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while scheduled for on-call.
• Assemble and install equipment, maintain inventory, and maintain test and tool equipment.
• Develop scripts to update server and networking hardware and create operational documentation.
• Provide technical support to data center teams and train internal teams.

Requirements

• Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and assembly.
• Experience with the Linux operating system.
• Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces such as under-floor areas and ladders, and perform fine-motor tasks involving hardware components and cables.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 environment, including a rotating on-call shift.
• Ability to perform essential duties in a climate-controlled data center with fluctuating temperatures and variable airflow, including designated hot and cold aisles ranging from 60°F to 90°F.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and react quickly to issues.
• Applicants must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information, including being a U.S. person, eligible to access the information without authorization, or eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Hands-on or education-based experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, data centers, computer networking, Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt when troubleshooting complex physical infrastructure challenges.
• Curiosity about data center networking, server architectures, and automation scripts.
• Drive to maintain high reliability standards and solve operational constraints.
