Environmental Technician

Location: New York, NY, US; approximately 80% fieldwork, with the remainder in the office.

Salary: $72,000–$85,000 annually.

What you will do

• Manage fieldwork for remedial action monitoring at NYC VCP redevelopment sites and NYS BCP sites.
• Perform Phase I and Phase II environmental site inspections, geotechnical field investigations, underground tank inspections, and other field assignments.
• Coordinate equipment ordering, mobilization, subcontractors, site supervisors, sample collection, laboratory delivery, and sampling documentation.
• Prepare field reports, review analytical data, and assemble tables.
• Communicate field findings to team members and the Senior Project Manager and support client conclusions and recommendations.
• Monitor federal, state, and local environmental compliance requirements and manage expectations with site staff, subcontractors, regulators, and internal teams.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, or equivalent experience combined with education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, and tolerate inclement weather.
• Excellent attention to detail, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Solid knowledge of environmental health and safety standards and current environmental consulting regulations in the New York City metropolitan region.
• Completed OSHA HAZWOPER training.
