Site Reliability Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, Eagan, Minnesota, United States; some off-hours support is required.

Base salary: $70,800–$131,400 USD per year, plus potential annual bonus.

What you will do

• Support and improve the stability, performance, scalability, monitoring, alerting, and supportability of production and pre-production publishing systems on AWS.
• Partner with engineering teams, developers, data center partners, business stakeholders, and operations teams on AWS projects and operational readiness.
• Own production incidents, determine mitigation and root-cause actions, communicate status, and drive preventative improvements.
• Participate in a Level 2 support rotation and provide escalation support for Level 1 incident response and deployment services, including off-hours coverage.
• Introduce automation, implement standards and best practices, and maintain deployment procedures and troubleshooting documentation.
• Collect and use AWS metrics to improve system performance and proactively share technical knowledge with global colleagues.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with CI/CD technologies including AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CLI/SDK, and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD principles including blue/green deployments, versioning, automated testing, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with writing CloudFormation templates.
• Experience with scripting and markup languages including JSON, YAML, Python, Bash, and Go.
• Experience working with Git and monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog and ELK.
• Willingness to support varied applications across multiple platforms, participate in rotating pager coverage, and assist with urgent off-hours incidents and changes.
• Ability to take ownership of issues, drive them to resolution with limited assistance, analyze technical issues, communicate effectively with technical staff, management, and business teams, and participate in peer discussions.
• Willingness to stay current with cloud technology trends, especially DevOps, service reliability, and security.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of operations or development-related experience.
• Experience migrating on-premise applications to AWS Cloud architecture.
• Experience with Linux or Windows environments.
• Understanding of networking principles and database technologies.
• Familiarity with publishing applications and architecture.
• Data center and/or software development experience.
• Experience with web technologies and browser development, including HTML, XML, .NET, and REST.
• AWS certifications.
