Senior/Principal Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. Most teams work from the office full time, with flexibility when needed.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and review production code for scalable, reliable, and secure Cortex backend platform services.
• Lead technical design for complex backend and platform domains while balancing architecture with practical delivery.
• Own and improve shared capabilities including configuration, dashboards and reporting, metrics, multi-tenant and MSSP infrastructure, log forwarding, notifications, auditing, permissions, filtering, and querying.
• Drive operational excellence through observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, reliability, production readiness, and on-call participation.
• Improve documentation, testing, design reviews, ownership models, and engineering methods.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product managers, architects, security experts, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend or platform software development.
• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Go, JavaScript, C++, C#, Ruby, Python, or a similar language.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data modeling, APIs, reliability, observability, and production operations.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments.
• Ability to lead technical decisions while staying close to code and implementation details.
• Strong ownership of production behavior, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards within a team.
• Strong communication, cross-team influence, and a practical, collaborative, low-ego working style.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD systems, and modern production infrastructure.
• Experience building internal platforms, shared services, developer platforms, or application infrastructure.
• Experience with multi-tenant systems, permissions, access control, configuration, notifications, auditing, metrics, or reporting infrastructure.
• Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives or improving testing, documentation, design, incident review, and ownership practices.
• Experience in cybersecurity, SaaS platforms, or enterprise-scale backend systems.
