Staff Software Engineer (f/m/d) Software-Defined Networking

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid working model.

What you will do

• Develop and support the scalable, high-performance Software-Defined Networking stack connecting virtual machines and cloud services.
• Design new features and adopt hardware and software-defined technologies across SDN infrastructure components.
• Write and debug C/C++, Golang, and Python code across the SDN data plane and control plane, including Linux kernel networking, eBPF, and Open vSwitch/OpenFlow pipelines.
• Build Python tooling and automation for testing, deploying, and operating the SDN stack.
• Troubleshoot networking issues in virtualized environments such as QEMU/KVM and VirtIO.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate SDN features into hirify.global products.

Requirements

• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Golang, plus Python, including AI-assisted development.
• Experience with Linux kernel networking internals.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, Open vSwitch, OpenFlow, VXLAN, VRF, and eBPF.
• Experience with cloud environments, Kubernetes, and virtualization technologies including QEMU/KVM and VirtIO.
• Experience with the GNU toolchain, including gcc, gdb, and make, as well as git and the Linux CLI.
• Experience with Linux system administration and automation.

Nice to have

• Experience with VPP and DPDK.
