Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

Location: Fully remote from Kazakhstan. Relocation support is available to hubs in Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Portugal, and Spain.

What you will do

• Design, build, install, and maintain large relational databases.
• Maintain database integrity and security, including backup and recovery procedures.
• Implement disaster recovery, failover, replication, clustering, mirroring, and other high-availability strategies.
• Monitor and improve database performance, apply patches and upgrades, and optimize queries.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database usage.
• Use PostgreSQL infrastructure tools such as PgBouncer and modern monitoring systems while keeping current with database technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• Hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Strong understanding of database design, documentation, and development best practices.
• Working knowledge of Bash, Python, or Go.
• Experience migrating large databases across cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies such as Debezium or Flink.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Professional English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse.
• Experience managing DBaaS solutions on GCP or AWS.
• Relevant database management certifications or formal training.
