Translation Coordinator

Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080 — onsite

Pay rate: $56/hour on W2. Duration: 12 months.

What you will do

• Receive and process translation requests for marketing and creative content, and prepare source and reference materials.
• Coordinate communications among linguists, content owners, internal reviewers, and translation vendors.
• Create and maintain schedules for several complex translation projects, allocate resources, monitor deadlines, and escalate conflicts.
• Coordinate linguistic feedback, regulatory submissions, and approval of translated materials.
• Collaborate with vendors and reviewers to develop glossaries and style guides and maintain project documentation.
• Track turnaround time, quality, and vendor performance metrics and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, a related field, an equivalent credential, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 4 years of professional experience managing translation projects, including timelines, resources, and deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Experience managing translation quality through translation memories, glossaries or termbases, and style guides.
• Experience with linguistic review processes, gathering reviewer feedback, and communicating revisions to translation vendors.
• Familiarity with translation management systems (TMS).
• Knowledge of industry-standard file formats and localization best practices for print and digital documents, multimedia, and web content.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and stakeholder expectations.
• Strong organization, prioritization, attention to detail, collaboration, analytical thinking, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with JIRA or other project management software.
• Experience with Adobe Suite and multimedia content translation.
• Fluency in Spanish, Traditional Chinese, or Simplified Chinese.
• Proficiency in additional languages.
• Understanding of creative content design best practices for bi-directional languages.
