Digital Innovation Back-End Developer

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work model with 8–10 in-office days per month.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain backend digital solutions, services, and reusable components for web and mobile applications supporting European Network Operations.
• Design and implement microservices, REST APIs, web services, and secure integrations with enterprise platforms and distributed systems.
• Participate in requirements analysis, technical design, solution definition, development, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting across the full product lifecycle.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, scalability, maintainability, code quality, and system integration standards.
• Work with Agile delivery, continuous delivery, CI/CD practices, automation, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders in cross-functional and multicultural teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, ideally in complex enterprise environments and large-scale digital solutions.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript ES6+.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, web services, system integration, cloud-based environments, containerisation, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of secure development, API security, authentication, authorisation, and data protection.
• Experience with automated unit, integration, and API testing, with a focus on software quality and maintainability.
• Good command of Git and modern development ecosystems, including package management, build, and code-quality tools.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle in Agile environments such as Scrum and/or SAFe.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ownership, attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to work with technical and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English, C1 level, written and spoken.
