Manager, Product Design, Studio

Location: Hybrid in Brooklyn, New York, United States; candidates should be within commuting distance of the Brooklyn office and attend once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional travel to the office expected.

Salary: Geo-1: $182,000–$246,000 annual; Geo-2: $164,000–$222,000 annual.

What you will do

• Hire, manage, coach, and develop a team of Visual and Systems Designers through feedback, sponsorship, and growth opportunities.
• Set and maintain quality standards for interaction design, visual precision, systems thinking, and scalable patterns.
• Lead Studio engagements from problem framing and discovery through frameworks, guidelines, and production-ready specifications.
• Champion reusable systems, pattern libraries, playbooks, and solutions that work across buyer and seller experiences on web, Android, and iOS.
• Support AI-assisted prototyping with tools such as Cursor, Claude, and the internal prototyping environment, emphasizing functional prototypes and motion.
• Represent Studio in partnerships with Brand, Design Systems, Engineering, Product, and Research, while improving intake, documentation, engagement models, and operating practices.

Requirements

• Portfolio or body of work demonstrating depth in visual systems, interaction design, or design systems, with a clear point of view on craft excellence.
• Experience managing Product Designers, including providing substantive craft feedback, supporting career growth, and handling performance conversations.
• Fluency with agentic prototyping tools such as Cursor, Claude, or equivalent, and interest in prototyping in motion rather than relying on static mocks.
• Experience shipping design work across web, iOS, and Android, with an understanding of platform constraints and cross-platform coherence.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity by framing poorly defined problems, aligning collaborators, and helping teams implement without a clear brief.
• Strong communication and collaborator-management skills, including representing work to design and product leadership.
• Track record of deep collaboration with Product, Engineering, Brand, and Research, and of building those relationships for the team.
