Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer Search, Recommendations, and Ads

Location: Brooklyn, New York, US; remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional travel to the Brooklyn office. Candidates near the office are expected to come in once or twice per week.

Salary: Geo-1 USD 258,000–350,000 annual; Geo-2 USD 233,000–315,000 annual.

What you will do

• Lead teams in researching, architecting, designing, and operationalizing AI/ML solutions for Search, Recommendations, and Ads.
• Define and execute the product and technical roadmap for core AI/ML solutions.
• Drive technical alignment and execution across engineering teams and collaborate with cross-functional leaders.
• Lead mid- and long-term R&D in advanced AI, including hybrid retrieval, multi-task deep learning, Generative Recommendations, and agentic shopping experiences.
• Use data-driven experimentation and decision-making to build high-performance, scalable models and systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in machine learning and AI.
• Track record of building large-scale, high-performance models and systems.
• Deep experience with the end-to-end ML/AI development lifecycle, including large-scale model training and serving.
• Foundational and practical understanding of machine learning principles and productionizing models at scale.
• Proficiency with modern data processing frameworks such as Spark, Beam, or Hadoop, and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Ability to define and solve highly ambiguous or unconstrained technical problems.
• Track record of collaborating with engineers, leaders, and product managers to complete complex projects.
• Commitment to supporting and mentoring engineers and increasing organizational technical capability.
