Desktop Support Technician

Location: On-site in Huntsville, Alabama, US. Schedule: 9/80, with every other Friday off.

Salary ranges stated for applicable US locations: $59,000–$110,000 or $68,500–$127,000 annually, depending on geographic location.

What you will do

• Consult with users, manufacturing, engineering, and business teams to understand technology needs and determine appropriate tools and solutions.
• Identify, compare, and recommend hardware, software, and other technology solutions aligned with operational requirements.
• Evaluate technology risks and recommend actions to reduce business disruption, improve reliability, and support system uptime and data integrity.
• Review existing technology and determine when systems should be purchased, upgraded, replaced, or retired.
• Analyze system performance and capacity requirements, identify root causes of technology issues, and recommend configuration and process improvements.
• Lead technology improvement efforts that enhance reliability, security, compliance, and long-term operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of prior relevant experience, or 2 years of post-secondary education/Associate degree with at least 4 years of prior related experience.

Nice to have

• Advanced proficiency troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
• Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs, as well as cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, remote management tools, and monitoring software.
• Familiarity with manufacturing technologies including ERP, MES, SCADA, and industrial automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in teams under pressure during production-critical situations.
