Engineering Manager (Remix)

Location: San Francisco, with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work 2–3 days per week.

Salary: $215,000–$265,000 per year, excluding equity and variable pay.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a full-stack engineering team building fixed-route and on-demand transit scheduling and optimization applications.
• Own the technical direction of a product combining geospatial data, React interfaces, and algorithmic optimization.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and customers to understand transit-planner workflows and translate them into engineering priorities and architecture decisions.
• Mentor engineers through 1:1s, career development, feedback, and clear expectations.
• Improve engineering processes, including code review standards and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on shared infrastructure, APIs, and cross-cutting platform concerns.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong full-stack foundation.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and React on the frontend and Rails, Python, or similar technologies on the backend.
• Experience managing engineering teams and creating an environment based on clear expectations, mentorship, and professional growth.
• Experience with production applications, on-call responsibilities, deployments, and production maintenance.
• Ability to make technical decisions in complex, data-rich domains.
• Understanding of databases, performance tradeoffs, and maintaining reliable, fast products as usage grows.
• Ability to collaborate empathetically with engineers, stakeholders, product partners, and customers.
• Motivation to build products with real-world impact.
