Machine Learning Intern (AI/ML)

Location: Must work from the Seattle or San Francisco hub in the United States. The internship is a 12-week, full-time Summer 2027 program.

Salary: $45–$61 per hour, depending on the U.S. geographic pay zone.

What you will do

• Build and evaluate applied AI/ML solutions for product and business problems with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Contribute to machine learning and Generative AI projects involving models, agents, retrieval, and evaluation workflows.
• Translate business and product needs into scoped technical projects, from experimentation and prototyping to working implementations.
• Improve AI/ML solutions through experimentation, error analysis, user feedback, and measurable results.
• Communicate findings and document results, trade-offs, limitations, and next steps.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled full-time in a quantitative Master's degree program and return to the program after the internship.
• Expected graduation by August 2028 in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience in Python, testing, version control, APIs, data structures, and debugging.
• Hands-on experience building machine learning or AI systems through coursework, research, or industry internships, including recommendation systems, NLP, classification, embeddings, LLM applications, RAG, agents, or model evaluation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with an interest in reliable and responsible AI/ML solutions.
• Must be able to commit to a 12-week, full-time internship of 40 hours per week.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully, validating generated code and outputs, and assessing their limitations.
