Entry Level Cyber Engineer (DevSecOps)

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Salary: $65,500–$108,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes across development, integration, test, and operational environments.
• Implement Git-based workflows, branching strategies, repository management, GitOps practices, and release automation.
• Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Kubernetes environments, Helm charts, and environment-specific deployment configurations.
• Maintain delivery toolchains supporting development, testing, security scanning, deployment, and operational monitoring.
• Integrate security controls, vulnerability remediation, compliance requirements, release validation, rollback strategies, and operational readiness into software delivery.
• Collaborate with software developers, AI engineers, systems engineers, cyber teams, and operational stakeholders to improve delivery reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience supporting DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, release engineering, or software delivery activities.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, and source control management.
• Experience developing and maintaining Helm charts and Kubernetes deployment configurations, including administering and troubleshooting Kubernetes-based environments.
• Understanding of software deployment lifecycles across multiple environments and security domains, plus experience with containerized applications and cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with software delivery automation, infrastructure automation, and deployment orchestration; strong scripting or automation experience with Bash, Python, or Go.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Space Systems Command, Space Operations Command, other DoD software programs, SATCOM, mission systems, or operational C2 environments.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, secure software delivery, IL5/IL6, air-gapped or other restricted environments, and deployments across classified security enclaves.
• Experience integrating security scanning, vulnerability management, compliance checks, artifact signing, SBOM generation, and provenance validation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud-native mission platforms, distributed application architectures, Agile environments, and Program Increment execution.
• Experience with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Argo Workflows, Tekton, Harbor, Nexus, Artifactory, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes security tools, policy engines, runtime security platforms, Terraform, OpenTofu, or Ansible.
• Experience supporting MLOps platforms, AI workload orchestration, machine learning lifecycle management, AI-enabled mission systems, or modern software factories.
• Relevant Kubernetes, Security+, CISSP, GitLab, cloud platform, or INCOSE CSEP/ESEP certifications; an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
