Financial Controller (Media)

Location: DC-Washington-TWP Headquarters; on-site five days a week, except for certain newsgathering and business travel

Salary: $149,900–$278,300 annual

What you will do

• Lead global accounting operations, including the general ledger, close, consolidation, and statutory reporting.
• Set the long-term vision for the controllership function and redesign accounting processes, operating models, and organizational structures.
• Maintain accountability for accurate, complete, and timely internal and external financial reporting.
• Develop global accounting policies, revenue recognition standards, internal controls, and governance practices.
• Lead ERP evaluation, selection, migration, future-state architecture, and systems optimization.
• Partner with auditors, FP&A, internal stakeholders, and risk functions while building and developing a global accounting organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA designation.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, including senior-level leadership responsibility at Big 4 or a similar organization with revenue and systems complexities.
• 5+ years of experience leading teams, including people managers.
• Experience in media, advertising, or directly related industries.
• Deep technical accounting expertise and experience with global accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
• Experience leading ERP system evaluations and migrations, including future-state system design.
• Experience leading automation strategy and implementation.
• Ability to lead transformation, rethink operating models, and work as both a strategic leader and hands-on practitioner.
• Strong judgment, integrity, discretion, and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate financial concepts for non-finance stakeholders.

• Public accounting experience.
• Experience in a privately held, multi-entity, or complex organizational environment.
• Prior responsibility for or partnership with risk management, internal audit, or governance functions.
• Experience leading accounting or finance transformations during organizational or systems change.
