Founding People Partner

Location: On-site in New York or Mountain View, United States

Salary: $144K–$205K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Establish the People Partner function and advise leaders on business priorities, talent needs, organizational change, and team capabilities.
• Coach managers on expectations, feedback, delegation, difficult conversations, and leadership development.
• Support performance reviews and help translate feedback into actionable development plans.
• Use employee conversations, pulse surveys, exit themes, and people data to identify team-health and retention risks.
• Advise managers on employee relations, performance concerns, conflicts, sensitive situations, and team changes.
• Own People initiatives and provide recommendations based on work with leaders and employees.

Requirements

• Experience advising leaders as a People Partner, HRBP, or in a comparable role within a tech or hardware company.
• Experience across early-stage startups and larger companies.
• Experience building practical People tools or delivering program components.
• Experience coaching managers through feedback, performance, and development.
• Sound judgment in employee relations, including fact-finding, confidentiality, and knowing when to involve People leadership or counsel.
• Experience using employee feedback and people data to recommend changes and assess their impact.
• Clear, candid communication, including examples of building trust and influencing leaders through difficult decisions or disagreement.
• Experience supporting employees and managers across multiple countries and knowing when to draw on local expertise.

Nice to have

• Experience using Rippling, Ashby, Lattice, Deel, Notion, or Slack.
• Experience supporting research or hardware teams and understanding how their work shapes team structure, performance, and development.
• HR or project management certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or PMP.
• Experience supporting reductions in force, establishing international entities, or setting up PEO arrangements.
