Summer 2027 Data Science R&D Graduate Intern (AI)

Location: Remote, Home, Pennsylvania, United States. Applicants must be independently authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Design and optimize graph-based healthcare data models, GraphQL interfaces, Graph Neural Network solutions, and GraphRAG architectures.
• Build medical image processing pipelines and computer vision models for clinical image analysis, anatomical segmentation, and pathology classification.
• Develop machine learning models for healthcare risk prediction, disease progression, and patient outcome forecasting, with attention to explainability and fairness.
• Design and evaluate AI agent frameworks, natural language processing solutions, prompt engineering strategies, and clinical information extraction workflows using generative AI.
• Contribute to research projects, analytical solution design, model evaluation and experimentation, research reporting, and communication of findings to technical and business audiences.
• Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, and other colleagues under mentorship and supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree full- or part-time in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline at an accredited college or university.
• Strong programming experience in Python.
• Experience with modern data science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and/or TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues, clients, and internal or external stakeholders.
• Ability to provide professional services, participate in projects and initiatives, conduct research and reporting, and work under the guidance of senior personnel.
• Compliance with HIPAA, data security guidelines, privacy policies, the Code of Business Conduct, and applicable laws and regulations.
