Sr. Software Engineering - LV Power Distribution

Location: Hybrid in Markham, Ontario; required to report to the Markham Elevation Center at least three times per week.

Salary: $115,00–$164.600 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Develop and deliver embedded software for low-voltage power management, distribution controls, and diagnostic systems.
• Lead software system design content, correct software anomalies, and independently review software written by others.
• Design and implement physics and controls requirements for mechatronic controls, diagnostic strategies, and controller communication.
• Ensure compliance with automotive safety requirements, government regulations, GM policies, and MISRA guidelines.
• Test and demonstrate software at controller, system, and vehicle levels using automated test tools, test benches, and vehicles.
• Collaborate with requirements, hardware, calibration, software, testing, and agile scrum teams while supporting best practices, BDD/TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, SDV, and SOA development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• At least 5 years of experience in embedded controls software.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and strong knowledge of system design and control systems for embedded software applications.
• Experience testing and debugging at component and system levels, including SiL, HiL, and vehicle-level testing frameworks.
• Experience with automotive safety and ISO 26262, software verification and validation, virtual testing, DevOps, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, CAN, LIN, and ARXML automotive communication protocols.
• Experience with JIRA and the Scaled Agile Framework.
• Experience with OBDII (CARB 1968.2) regulations and diagnostic design.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal, analytical problem-solving, self-direction, initiative, integrity, ambiguity-management, and customer-centric innovation skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 7 years of experience in embedded controls software for low-voltage battery systems.
• Experience with GM Cosim, software architectures, bootloaders, embedded operating systems, controller communication, diagnostics, or complex device drivers.
• Expertise in C, C++, MATLAB Simulink, auto code generation, and Python scripting.
• Working experience with AUTOSAR standards and methodology.
• Familiarity with MISRA guidelines and CAN, LIN, ARXML, or Ethernet communication protocols.
• Experience with OBDII (CARB 1968.2) regulations and diagnostic design.
