Sr. AV Programmer (Audio Visual)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada or Mississauga, ON, Canada; the role includes determining when an on-site visit is required.

Salary: CAD 100,000–115,000 per year.

What you will do

• Coordinate and develop programming and UI/UX design with project stakeholders.
• Develop and evolve company programming standards, templates, and reusable application structures.
• Deploy, debug, troubleshoot, test, and sign off code for complex AV control systems.
• Create responsive user interfaces and provide remote technical assistance for commissioning and end users.
• Interface with design engineering, field engineering, project management, sales, design teams, clients, and an international programming team.
• Lead team initiatives, assist with project groups, and mentor and develop associate colleagues.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, is required.
• Seven years of audio-visual control-system development experience is required.
• Experience with Crestron, including SIMPL, SIMPL#/SIMPL# Pro, CH5/HTML5 panels, and Crestron Construct; Q-SYS, including Lua scripting, UCI design, and plugin development; and Extron Control Script, or a combination, is required.
• Programming experience with C#/.NET, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Lua, and PowerShell/Bash.
• Experience with React, Angular, Svelte, or Vue front-end frameworks.
• Experience creating reusable modules and drivers for third-party devices over RS-232, IR, TCP/IP, SSH, HTTP/REST, and WebSocket, including interpreting manufacturer protocol documentation.
• Knowledge of Git workflows, branching, code reviews, software architecture, unit testing, simulation, and emulation.
• Ability to create technical documentation, as-builts, operating procedures, and scopes of work; read schematic line drawings and scopes of work; and communicate system requirements and client needs.
• Experience deploying and maintaining server-side AV control applications, services, and integrations in cloud or on-premises environments, including Linux, Docker/containers, virtualization, and Crestron VC-4.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processors, and presentation software; ability to maintain professionalism under pressure, prioritize deliverables, and exercise sound judgment about remote resolution versus on-site support.

Nice to have

• AVIXA General CTS within the first 12 months; CTS-D and/or CTS-I preferred.
• Crestron Certified Master Programmer, Q-SYS Level 1/2 and Control 101/201, Extron Authorized Programmer, or other relevant certifications.
• Networking knowledge of Dante, AES67, Q-LAN, Crestron NVX, VLANs, IP routing, PTP, and multicast fundamentals.
• Experience with graphics editing programs, including Figma, Penpot, Sketch, or Illustrator.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and the judgment to review, validate, and take ownership of generated code.
