Material Industrial Engineer

Location: Onsite in Spring Hill, Tennessee, United States; full-time presence at the specified location is required. Travel is less than 25%. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy. Ability to work off-shift, weekends, or overtime may be required for project implementations.

What you will do

• Lead improvements to material flow, storage, dock strategies, parts management, and material delivery routes.
• Develop warehouse layouts, space allocations, material packaging, gravity-flow racks, dollies, and staging stands using AutoCAD and related layout tools.
• Drive Operational Excellence and Lean Material Strategies initiatives, including labor rebalance, continuous improvement, and reductions in labor cost.
• Design safe, ergonomic, high-quality, efficient work operations that meet takt and throughput requirements and interact with material automation.
• Conduct time studies, maintain work instructions, and provide supply chain floor support to UAW Team Members, Group Leaders, engineering, operations, and logistics partners.
• Assist with programming and logic changes for automated mobile equipment from multiple vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
• Experience in supply chain optimization, material flow optimization, and/or layout optimization.
• Experience leading large and difficult continuous improvement projects with a high level of autonomy.
• Knowledge of robotic systems, including robotic cells, cobots, or material automation, or general programming.
• Knowledge of labor optimization tools and time study analysis.
• Ability to work off-shift, weekends, or overtime as needed to support project implementations.

Nice to have

• At least 2 years of engineering experience.
• Significant educational or work experience in supply chain management.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or computer-aided drafting and layout tools.
• Proficiency in human factors engineering, safety engineering, or ergonomic analysis.
• Experience with data mining, data analytics, and/or statistical analysis.
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
